VIRIDOR CREDITS FUNDING

Viridor Credits Environmental Company is an independent, not-for-profit organisation which provides funding for community, heritage and biodiversity projects around the UK through the Landfill Communities Fund.

Viridor Credits is a company limited by guarantee (No. 4293742) and is a Distributive Environmental Body (DEB) registered with ENTRUST, the regulator of the Landfill Communities Fund (Reg No. 331293). It is also registered as a charity (No. 1096538).

Viridor Credits was set up to administer the LCF on behalf of Viridor. It is, however, a wholly independent company, separate from Viridor’s operations.

Viridor Credits is based in Taunton, Somerset.

Viridor Credits provides funding for a huge range of projects and will consider eligible applications on their merits and in light of the funding available. In general, a project needs to be located within 10 miles of a Viridor Landfill Site. Applications for projects located within 10 miles of a Viridor Landill Site can fall under the provision of one of the categories listed below.

1. Community – Provision or maintenance of public amenities;

2. Conservation – Promotion of biological diversity through:

the provision, conservation, restoration or enhancement of a natural habitat

or

the maintenance or recovery of a species or its habitat on land or water

3. Heritage – Maintenance, restoration or renovation of structures of historical or architectural importance or those used for religious worship, provided they offer public access.

Viridor Credits have been funding projects in the Dunbar area for over 10 years, considering applications for funding via a Steering Group made up of local volunteers from community groups, councillors and community-minded individuals in order to best direct this funding for maximum benefit to the community.
