Weekend Collection of Garden Waste, 2nd and 9th May

A garden waste collection will take place over two weekends – 2/3 May and 9/10 May.

During these weekends residents should place their brown bin at the kerbside on the relevant Saturday morning no later than 07:00 and leave out until collected which can be up to 4pm on the Sunday.

East Lothian Council crews will collect from all properties however issues may arise out-with their control where they are unable to complete a collection given the scale of the operation being carried out or due to access issues. If this occurs, ELC apologise in advance to any residents who may miss this collection. If your bin is not collected by 4pm on the Sunday please retrieve your brown bin and continue to store your garden waste until ELC have the resources available to attempt collections again.

Coronavirus – East Lothian Council Update

East Lothian Council (ELC) is taking the possible outcomes associated with Coronavirus(COVID 19) very seriously. Although the risk remains low, ELC has established a multi-service resilience group, including Health and Social Care staff, to ensure the council is prepared and ready to respond, if the risk warrants such action. ELC remains part of the overall resilience package currently in place throughout Scotland.

ELC is aware of the many issues Coronavirus may bring and processes are being put in place to ensure critical services continue. Please follow national NHS guidance and encourage others to do so.

Sign up for Automated ‘Alert’ Communications

East Lothian Council intends to use an alert system to pass on information regarding forthcoming risks, emergencies and/or information connected to, a recovery from any major disruption.

The automated ‘alert’ communication system allows immediate, specific, targeted and urgent messages to be sent to the public, who have self-registered, highlighting ongoing crime, missing persons and risks.

This is an excellent use of technology and ELCC encourages you to sign up to Neighbourhood Alert to allow additional information sharing. Once signed up, it is easy to cancel, if you are dissatisfied with the process.

To gain access please visit the Neighbourhood Watch Scotland website, https://neighbourhoodwatchscotland.co.uk

There is no requirement to join or set up a neighbourhood watch – simply follow the registration instructions. By signing up you control your personal information, contact details and also decide what information providers you want to receive alerts from.
