Shielding in Scotland Paused 1st August 2020

Shielding has been paused in Scotland for people considered more vulnerable to Covid-19.

Since 24 July, those in the shielding category have been able to shop and meet others indoors. They can now follow the same general advice as the rest of the population. To stay safe, you should strictly follow physical distancing and hygiene measures. This means you should:

– wear a face covering if you use public transport, visit a shop, or visit a care home or hospital

– avoid crowded places

– clean hands and surfaces regularly

– stay 2m (6 feet) away from other people

– self-isolate and book a test if you have COVID-19 symptoms

East Lothian Council Shielding Response

East Lothian Council have set up a Shielding Response Team to provide support at a local level. If you receive the national Shielding letter they can help you respond to it and support you with any concerns or needs you have at this time. The team are trusted staff from East Lothian Council and East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership.
